PEW 211 WEIGHT TRAINING 1
Credits: 1
Format: Two 50-minute sessions per week
Level: Beginning
Prerequisite: None
Content: This course is designed for those with no prior weight training experience. Students learn proper technique for all basic lifts and participate in a variety of workout formats designed to develop strength and muscular endurance. Evaluations of physical fitness and knowledge of weight training principles are integral components of the course. By the end of the term, each student develops his/her own personalized training program.
PEW 212 WEIGHT TRAINING 2
Credits: 1
Format: Two 50-minute sessions per week
Level: Intermediate
Prerequisite: None
Content: A variety of advanced weight training exercises are introduced, and skills in the basic lifts are reinforced. Students can expect to work more independently than in Weight Training I. Topic covered include intermediate program design, exercise science, and evaluation of strength and muscular endurance.
PEW 331/332/333 SPORTS CONDITIONING 1/2/3
Credits: 2
Format: Two 50-minute sessions per week
Level: Advanced
Prerequisite: Weight training II or equivalent experience
Content: Student in this advanced course must be training for a competitive sport or activity. Emphasis is on the development of strength and power specific to the student's chosen sport.
